Resonance and practice

When your card profile resonates: turn that feeling into a clear question.

A sentence touches you. Now the interesting work begins: what appears in daily life, and what do you want to shape consciously?

A first answer

Connect your response to a card profile with concrete situations. Distinguish observation from interpretation, ask for another example and choose a small next step. A short journal gives your personal question a tangible shape.

You read something and pause: this theme has been with me. Perhaps a conversation comes to mind, or a decision you have been putting off. That moment begins a personal exploration with depth.

How do you continue? Take the sentence that touches you and give it a concrete place in your life. An actual situation reveals more than an ever larger description of yourself.

Begin with one situation

Perhaps you ask: do I take on more responsibility than is good for me? Write down one scene. When was it? Which task did you accept? What did you say or do?

Then add your interpretation: I said yes because I did not want to disappoint anyone. Perhaps that captures your motive. Perhaps you also wanted to finish quickly or the agreement was unclear. Separating observation and interpretation opens the next question.

“I always do this” becomes: in this conversation I agreed before checking my schedule. That is a sentence you can work with practically.

Also ask: when was it different?

Perhaps last week you kindly declined a request or shared responsibility. These situations add another perspective. What was clear then? What support was present?

You can discover conditions under which you act differently. Bring one into a similar situation: check your schedule, clarify the task or ask for time to think.

Raymond S. Nickerson describes confirmation bias as seeking or interpreting information in ways that favour existing beliefs. [2]

Our practical suggestion is to collect differing observations when reading a personal profile. The cited research review concerns confirmation bias; it is not a study of the Schicksalskarten method.

Seven days for a personal question

Choose a question from your CODE and follow it for a week. A brief note for each situation is enough. You need neither card interpretation skills nor an elaborate diary.

These five points keep the question close to daily life. Use words that fit you and be as concrete as possible.

  1. Situation: what happened?
  2. Observation: what did I say or do?
  3. Interpretation: what explanation do I see?
  4. Alternative: what else might play a part?
  5. Next step: what will I try consciously?

Let insight lead to a small step

After a week, place your notes side by side. In which context does your theme appear? What surprises you? Perhaps your question has become more precise, and that helps you move forward.

Choose something you can try: thinking time before saying yes, an open question in a conversation or a smaller project stage. Then observe how it develops in your situation.

Your card profile remains a personal perspective. Your observations add depth. Bringing both together turns the first resonant sentence into a question with which you can consciously continue.
